X diet soda 150x150 The dangers of drinking diet soda!Well unfortunately I have come across some VERY interesting information regarding one of my biggest vices; yep you guessed it – Diet Pepsi! (or any diet soda for that matter).

Man I love this stuff = ) I don’t drink any of the full sugar sodas nor do I even rave it, just thinking about all the sugar they put in just one can makes me ill just thinking about it. Very rarely I might have a ginger ale or a diet root beer but that’s about it.

I switched to the diet soda years ago to get away from the huge sugar content that they put  in all of the sodas out on the market today. As a kid I had a lot of dental problems due to a combination of having soft teeth and loving all of the high sugar sodas and junk food that were at my disposal - hey and which kid doesn’t?

So to stay as far away from the dentist as I can possibly could get I figured I would due the best thing for me or so I thought at the time which was to switch to the diet kind, good idea right? Well maybe not so much:(

I have just come across an article that I discovered on the internet (bear in mind that this article is from the internet and I don’t personally know the person who wrote this article) but from the previous things that I’ve read and heard about diet soda heck I believe it. There has always been talk about the dangers of Aspartame I guess I have just shut my ears hoping that all they were saying about this lovely little sweetener wasn’t true. After reading this article it really opened up my eyes a bit and really made me think do I want to keep drinking this stuff? I’m really not so sure, yeah it will be the toughest thing for me to actually have to give it up, geezzz it seems that’s all we do is “give it up” whether it’s this or that it seems like a cruel game of take away doesn’t it?

I certainly want to give credit to this guy’s web site so you can check it out and read it for yourself so you can form your own opinion. I will give you a short exert here in this blog article to give you a little taste as to why I just may give it up OR at the very least make it a rare treat for myself.

One of the biggest reasons that I am thinking about quitting drinking diet soda is due to the fact that I work hard at keeping myself fit week after week. I try every week to workout 5 to 6 days a week  and the one thing I read about the diet sodas is that the soda companies claim that it helps you to lose the weight due to the fact it doesn’t have the sugar content of a regular soda BUT with the Aspartame sweetener they use according to this article it can actually MAKE YOU GAIN WEIGHT !!%&*!@ What? are you kidding me? I’ve been busting my ass to strip away my gorgeous love handles and this stuff may be preventing or blocking me from doing that. I enjoy working out but man I’m not creating all this sweat for nothing, I think I’ll have to try an experiment to see if the diet soda was preventing me from getting rid of my love handles after all. Cross off listScratch another workout of my P90X workout calender.

As I’m writing this P90X blog I am on day 4, week 2 of my P90X workout and I am feeling the changes already = ) It is pretty amazing that you can feel so different while just over one week into a program. Well were not talking about just any program were talking about P90X !! I think a lot of what I’m feeling is due to it being the second time so I been through it and I now know what to expect and what not to expect.

I have just recently put together a video of my P90X round 2 goals and thoughts, in case you have not seen it you can check it out here.

I’ll briefly discuss what and how I have been feeling with this second round so far and my thoughts for the upcoming weeks that seem to be coming at me at a much quicker pace than I remember previously (maybe cause I’m gettin older? naahhhh!!) Maybe I’m just actually enjoying it a bit more? if that’s possible? Don’t get me wrong the P90X program is cerainly no walk in the park BUT if you hang in there and literally just take one day at a time you will soon feel like you have not felt in some time.

What is my driving force through this round compared to the last one? Easy, it is certainly associated to the fact that I am a Independnet Team Beachbody coach in which many people look to me for advice and help on helping them reach their fitness goals and also I’m not the type of person to hawk a program or supplement for that matter and not walk the walk myself! How could I lead others if I can’t lead myself? You just can’t and shouldn’t, so thanks to you I am more motivated than ever to get great results and heck I’m even getting paid to do it!! How canyou beat that?

My biggest weaknesses still with this round as in the last will be my flexibility and pull-ups but you know what? It doesn’t matter because with this program you can modify everything as needed which doesn’t mean you can just skate through without breaking a sweat, you just want to modify the exercises enough to maintain good form and get what you need out of the exercises. Believe me by the end of each workout I am completely wasted and when it comes to bedtime I’m out like a light! Your body really feels it and looks forward to getting some much needed rest to heal itself.

Well just a short week and a half and I will be into staring my first recovery week of this P90X workout program and I can’t wait to see what this round does for my body since this time I have never been more focused and driven. The first round I got in all my workouts and followed the nutrition plan but not to a T, I slipped here and there - good, but not great. Although it was good enough to drop 25 pounds and 8% body fat but not quite enough to  get my abs to reveal themselves, so that is my ULTIMATE goal for this round and I will do everything I can to attain it. If I can get that to happen I will be one estactic person, so stay tuned and I will let you know in future P90X blog posts on how this round goes compared to my first.

If you have done one round of P90X already then congratulation to you because just making it through a program like this really is a accomplishment that you can really be proud of. Why not take what you’ve learned from the first round and give it hell with a second? I think you would really feel the difference much like I have so far. p90x goalsHappy Forth of July to everyone!! Hope you’re enjoying this great holiday weekend = )

I just want to chat a bit about Beachbody’s P90X program and my P90X goals I have set for myself for this round. For those of you that have not tried this program yet you just may want to look into it because yes, it is that GOOD! 

Though not easy (and what good things if life ever come easy?) if you stick with this program as it’s intended both nutrition wise as well as showing up everyday and pushing play, the P90X results that you get are nothing short of amazing.

Yes, some people (me included) need multiple rounds to ultimately get to their desired goal(s) but so what – it’s only 90 days at a whack. In the grand scope of our lifetime that’s nothing!! I’ve sat on my ass longer than that at times! and I’m sure you have too. Heck the first round I lost 25 pounds along with 8% body fat!! Not to shabby – huh? So I’m really excited what this round has in store for me.

This second round of P90X is different for me, as I’m writing this I have only just finished my first week but I feel different already! It has been some time since I completed my first round, actually just about a year now. Although I did stay active and have done other Beachbody workouts since finishing my first round.

I think with this second just knowing what to expect going into it is HUGE unlike the first round their is so much to take in and learn at times it can be overwhelming. Maybe that’s part of the reason some people just don’t continue with the program which is a shame because if they had just sucked it up and stuck with it they would certainly be so much more ahead than probably where they are now.

My goal with this round? Well besides getting and feeling more fit I certainly want to see if I can melt the fat off from around my waist ESPECIALLY the dreaded love handles! Arrrggghhh… with us guys that’s where the fat critters love to hang out and as we age I truly feel it’s get’s even tougher to evict our fine little fat cells.

If things go as planned I would certainly be estatic if I could get my abs to reveal themselves – I just think there shy:) I have never been the type to walk around with a six pack (at least the ones we own) at least as I can remember.

So I will have to work harder than ever before, not just with the workouts but also with the nutrition because as you may or may not know our abs are certainly made in the kitchen.

So I will cerainly have updates in the coming weeks to see how the battle of the core is coming along.

Yep, I promise this will be the last I post on this past weekends Tony Horton’s P90X super saturday event that I was lucky enough to attend.

I have just put together a video from the day that I wanted to share with you. I didn’t get a lot of video of the actual workouts due to the fact that, well I was actually doing them! But I did manage to grab some cool video from the day.

Well,

SpenPicture 060ding the day with Tony Horton and about 325 other people interested in either getting fit or keeping fit and living a healthy lifestyle was just an amazing experience! 

The event was very well organized by Tony Horton’s sister Kit which I’m sure really took some planning to pull everything off without a hitch. Along with having Tony there to give his seminar and workouts he also had his full time chef Melissa Costello there to talk about learning to eat for optimal health and wellness. So there was so much to enjoy and take in so much so unless you taped the whole day it’s tough to think of all the stuff that was done and discussed.

All of the seminars and talks took place inside the college auditorium and all of the workouts took place outside under this huge tent which was a very cool experience, it was an absolutely beautiful day weather wise. Having Tony lead the workouts front and center under the tent with all of the other people was just cool in every way, something I had never experienced before and something I hope I can certainly experience again!

 We were lucky enough to do not just one but two P90X workouts, the morning workout was a cardio based workout with a mix of just about everything , kicking, punching, plank work, jumping and on and on. Reminded me of a mix between the P90X workout Plyometrics and cardio X.

The second worPicture 064kout “YOGA” came in the afternoon and this one certainly isn’t my strong suit but I just showed up and did my best. Man let me tell you for those that never tried Yoga before – wow you need to! Although I’m as flexible as the tin man it is one incredible workout, you wouldn’t think just holding positions would be tough - HA! give it a try I was dripping in sweat just trying to make it through. For those of you that would feel funny about trying it at a Yoga studio for the first time (like me) P90X has a kick ass Yoga workout that you can do right in your own living room so you won’t feel embarrassed when you don’t make it 20 minutes in:) This P90X workout really gives you a taste what it’s all about and Tony SWEARS by this workout which he calls the fountain of youth!

So before I go I have to say this, if there is a Beachbody event taking place anywhere around where you live – GO! tony horton1 Tony Horton   A day of P90X and Fun!Well I only have 1 more day left to the big day! What? What big day? Let me tell ya, I recently found out that the man himself Tony Horton is coming to a college in a nearby town where I live for  full day of P90X seminars and workouts. Woohoo! count me in, I couldn’t sign up quick enough I feel like a kid the night before Christmas.

I will be lucky enough to have a early morning workout along with about 350 other people, enjoying seminars have lunch and then have a afternoon yoga workout with Tony Horton. Best yet at the end of the day you get to meet Tony and have your picture taken with him, I just think being able to meet him will help keep me motivated and pushing forward with my workouts as well as my coaching business. I really admire what Tony has done and how he has done it, he seems like a very cool down to earth guy. I really wonder if this guy bleeds? Watching him do pull-ups I swear he’s a robot so maybe I’ll be able to confirm that at the Saturday event?

For those of you that don’t know Tony or who he is (I’m not sure there are any people out there that have not heard of him) the creator and mastermind behind the P90 at home workout program and the ever popular P90X program. Hey guys,

I just want to fill you in on something that you may be missing out on; I know you might think I’m crazy for mentioning this but here me out.

TurboJam 150x150 Turbo Jam by Beachbody   Just for the ladies?For the past week I have been struggling with some knee pain that developed right when I got back home from my business trip to Cyprus which is how I think my issue arose in the first place – from the long flights. Anyhow when I got home I tried various workouts that would allow me to get through them without causing me pain (more than there already was) or injuring myself further something that is the last thing I want, it’s never fun having to deal with an injury of any type on any level!

I say all this because that is why I decided to take a look at Beachbody’s Turbo Jam program one of which I have owned for a few months now but have not even looked at it yet because I have been busy with my other Beachbody workouts and coaching business and also probably much like yourself I always thought Turbo Jam was intended purely for the ladies full of dance moves anyhow – but maybe not so=)

Turbo Jam has been around for some time now with the ever energetic creator Chalene Johnson. Since Turbo JAM and ChaLEAN Extreme she has just put out her newest workout “Turbo FIRE” which looks really Chalene Johnsonintense especially now that Beachbody has caught up to the times and put in some “good workout music” into the workouts. And let me tell ya Chalene is not too tough on the eyes either:)

Alright, back to the topic at hand I am not doing the Turbo Jam program from beginning to end I am merely testing the waters to see if this program interests me and to just get a feel for what it’s all about. So far I have just watched the learn & burn cd as well as the 20 minute workout. I actually tried the training workout on the learn & burn cd in which Chalene shows you her (11) elite moves that she uses throughout her workouts. I’ll tell you what just the way she has you posture and tuck your pelvis while doing these moves I could really feel it in my abs and core!

It was actually pretty cool because it really wasn’t what I though it was going to be like. Chalene had done some mixed martial arts training in the past so she wanted to incorporate part of that style into her workouts BUT she also did dance too so I’ll have to see what the other workouts are like. I for one am the last one who wants to do any dance moves of any sort as part of my daily exercise so I will check out the rest of this program and let you know what it’s like and what I honestly think.

This might be one of those programs that can get that stubborn fat off and get the job done that many people may have overlooked? Stay tuned I’ll certainly let you know.

Just a short but important message for you today, I have put together a new video discussing the p90x program and exactly what p90x equipment you will need to get started on your new journey to better health and fitness.

You will need a bit more than just the P90X program itself but not to worry you truly won’t need to go out and buy yourself a small gym to do this program. Some pieces of equipment are certainly optional depending on personal preference but other pieces are a must have. I know that they do mention what you’ll need some equipment in the infomercials but for the most part I don’t think people (including myself) really understand what they will need while ordering the program until it has arrived to their home and they read through the program information.
